THEY GOT IT ALL WRONG

Written By Appleconnect on Feb 25, 2013 | 5:04 PM

Nairobi music is not even popular in Mombasa, so why should the their artists be popular??? we dont listen to Nairobi music unless its the one paid for to be "broadcasted" every 30 minutes on broadcasting stations and mind you that can make any music be a hit.
I just came across Hassan's status below
Stevens Muendo we send this protest note to the way Gates Mgenge Grandson was treated in the peace concert that was organized to promote peace in Mombasa...we do love our Nairobi counterparts but they should also know that Mombasa artist's exist..... @with Samora Machel

and was like "wow lem go down n see how are the comments and afterall these are the normal cries over here. Mind you ryt now i am listening to "single boy" and i like the facts in the song. Nowadays mapenzi yamezorota kwa hiyo the only safe department ni chama cha bachelor hapo hamna hasara ukiibiwa wee chuna tu kesho utaibia mwengine. Anyway the facts here are Bongo music ndio popular in Msa then Comes our Very own Mombasani music and then International, the only music from nai i can assure you ni zile hushinda zimechezwa kwa TV. So nikiona ati Oditi akisema hivi

Sir. Roncliffe Odit Hassan Faisal Mufti i have always respected u, and i have deep respect for Msa artists BUT i think this is a bit too low. Why cry other than act? Who attended the concert? Msa residents ndio wanawataka hao wasanii wa Nairobi. Msa artist MUST learn 2 market their music beyond Msa for national recognition then they can compete with the rest. Acheni kulia ngoa, wajibikeni.

Am like is this guy being realistic ama ni vile hayuko ground akarealize wat husikiza nini mtaani? If i were an artist or promoter or event organiser in mombasa il be more worried on Bongo artists influence than Nairobi's and for sure whoever brings nai artists here hajafanya survey hata single.
Check it out risto iliisha vipi

  • Samora Machel Promoting peace is about involving the Locals, who get affected by the violence. You cannot claim to be promoting peace in an area, when not even one rep from the area is involved. This is a perfect case of social marginalization where we feel Nairobi, both administratively and socially looks down upon other areas of the republic, more so, Mombasa. Sound-Nairobi, Flier distributors-Nairobi, All artists, Nairobians, Why did the organizers fail to include even 1 artist/DJ/ Performing artist?

  • Hassan Faisal Mufti The amount that was used to pay flights, hotels and transport could have been used locally...its a way of taking advantage of the situation and making some extra cash...... This should not happen and I again call upon Hon. Ali Hassan Joho......artists are requesting your help on this issue.......

  • Samora Machel Roncliffe, I beg to disagree; there was no survey conducted anywhere to ask what artists mombasa residents wanted. Someone, sited somewhere in Nairobi, decided the artist list, when I personally asked the guy incharge, he told me there was no time to involve coast based artists! What we are saying is, mombasa has music reognised beyond kenyan borders, saying they need to market their music to be recognised beats basic logic when they are already on unternational award nomination lists! Mombasa based dancers need no introduction in Nairobi, if ur memory fails you, google sakata! What we are saying is, there was no rationale whatsoever, to conduct a peace concert in Mombasa, without involving even a single local base talent! And by the way, its not Hassan only, ask anyone you know down here.

  • Hassan Faisal Mufti Odit....You have your say bro, what we are talking about here is madharau not who wants who?? where are you getting your facts from?? As a past resident of Mombasa you have an obligation of marketing mombasa music.....This is not a popularity contest but a protest note to let you know that we are not going to accept this anymore.....County government is the answer tut wajibika very soon..
